The Ambassador: BRIEF PROFILE HIS EXCELLENCY MR. BAWAH GILBERT AYEMBILLAH
Ambassador Bawah G. Ayembillah was born on 24th November, 1956 at Sapelliga in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region of Northern Ghana. He joined the Ghana Foreign Service in 1984 and has served in various capacities up to the level of Director in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
His tour of duty in the Ghana Foreign Service took him to Embassies of Ghana in Abidjan, Cote d'voire as First Secretary (1985 - 1990), Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso as Counsellor (1993 - 1998) and as Minister-Counsellor in the Ghana High Commission in Lagos, Nigeria (2001 - 2005). He was Minister Plenipotentiary in the Ghana Embassy in Brasilia (2005 - 2008).
Ambassador Bawah G. Ayembillah was Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of the Consular and Welfare Department of the Ghana High Commission in London from November, 2009 to January, 2013, a position he occupied until his appointment in January, 2013 as Ghana’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, with concurrent accreditation to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Georgia, Iraq, the Arab Republic of Syria, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
His Excellency Alhaji Bawah G. Ayembillah obtained his B.A. (Hons) French and Linguistics (1979 - 1982) and M.A. International Affairs (1991 - 1992) from the University of Ghana, Legon. He also holds Diplomas in French Studies and Portuguese Language from the Universities of Abidjan and Brasilia respectively.
He is married with children and his hobbies include swimming, cycling, horse riding and listening to news.
The Embassy is open to the general public between 09 hrs to 15:30 hrs from Sunday - Thursday.
